The Lay Counseling Ministry at Turning Point is a short-term, biblically-based, peer support and encouragement ministry that is available to all members and regular attendees.

 

The counselors provided are non-professionals who are trained in listening, clarifying, and assisting in goal-setting. We offer assistance in integrating your background, personality, and circumstances into a biblical style of living.

Counselor Qualifications

 

The Lay Counselors at Turning Point have been trained to listen and care for others. Lay Counselors are paraprofessionals (not licensed, paid professional therapists). Our goal is to help bring people to the truth and to assist you in living your life in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ.

 

All Lay Counselors have a recognized gifting in counseling ministry and have gone through a training course from the American Association of Christian Counseling and Turning Point Church.

 

All Lay Counselors are under the indirect supervision of the leader of Turning Point's counseling ministry.

How to Participate

 

You can pick up a Counseling Interest Form at the Hub on Sunday mornings or contact the office at 360.653.1822. Once you have submitted an interest form to help us understand your need, we will pair you up with a counselor. Your counselor will contact you to set up your first meeting time.
